THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PRIDE AND HUMILITY

Self-Security and Self-Insecurity
Self security simply put is a "moderate self-esteem". A sense of freedom to be you, that is, the ability to sustain who you are irrespective of your vulnerability (meekness). While Self-Insecurity is feeling unsafe to loose one's position. Insecurity in onself is a fight for ego and self-image. It is being not sure of oneself.
It is pertinent to have this understand also, that the source of humility psychologically is Self-Security while that of Pride is Self-Insecurity.
Everyone seems to be on a search for identity, they want to be noticed for the good they (think they) are and never know that the best of them can be best noticed in their humble/meek apparel. Moreover, if you keep searching it means you have not found what you are looking for, so if you keep searching for identity, it means you have none or you are not sure of the one you possess is yours. But when you stop to search, it means you've found what you are looking for and sure of it.
Self-Insecurity makes one to search for his identity in the jungle of Pride, where it can never be found.
To better illustrate this, let's consider a popular Adage in Yoruba, it says "to prostrate for a dwarf does not make him taller than you". Actually, when you prostrate, the dwarf seems taller but, you regain your position when you rise up. The insecure one is afraid and questions himself,  will this dwarf not be taller than me if I prostrate for him/her? What if people passing by think he's taller and I'm just a boy? Forgetting that either he prostrate or stands his position and self is not changing.
Many people are afraid to bend in humility because they are not sure of who they are. Being sure and proud of your identity and person (personality) will make you to humble yourself to the core.
Another instance to prove this truth is, an insecure man who people respect and think he knows much will always find it difficult to learn new things especially from the "lower than" him because, he would be concerned that if I bend to learn from this fellow, won't they say I don't know anything? He would be confused. But a self-secure man is free to learn from anyone and in anywhere, because he knows it doesn't change anything about his identity, hence it will add to his honour.
Knowing and being sure of your identity gives you the freedom to humble yourself in any case. So many people can not give to their neighbours, so they don't become richer or equal,so many people can not submit so they don't become lower, so many people find it difficult to make friends all which is tagged pride in the name of Self-Insecurity.

THE MIRROR: IDENTITY AND SELFHOOD

Identity. It’s the essence of who you are—your personality, the core of your being. Selfhood, on the other hand, is the expression of that identity, the way you present yourself to the world. Think back to a time when you had to show your identity card. Do you remember the reaction of the person you handed it to? Likely, they nodded in approval, having seen all the necessary information about you on that card. Your identity, in that moment, was defined by the details captured on that small piece of plastic. But identity is more than just what's written on a card. It’s how you define yourself and how others perceive you. It’s the name you give yourself, the image you project, and the way people recognize you. Selfhood is often conveyed through three key aspects: - Dressing (Your Appearance) - Actions (What You Do and How You Do It) - Speech (The Words You Speak and How You Utter Them)  Dressing (Your Appearance) There’s a common saying: "Appearance shows the manner." Where...

The Greatest Goal

When the ball enters the net, they say it's a goal! And the loosing team feel defeated forgetting that they've got the greatest goal.  Same to a man who has all his goals lain down and strategically pulling his efforts towards the goal but to realize at the end that, his goals can't be achieved, for known or unknown reasons. He looses strength. At times, he can feel like it's over. But the truth remains that it's not over until it is over. He's got the greatest goal.       Really, a goal is the achievement toward which effort is directed. And billions are the "I want to", "by God's grace I will", "in fact, I must" in the speeches of every man, especially at the beginning of every matter, but strength wanes and the story changes maybe in the middle of the road. Because all efforts put towards the achievement of the goals seem to be less affective. The truth is, no man has control over whatever happens and will happen....
