YOUR PAST, YOUR PRESENT IS NOT YOU

The head of confusion in searching for identity is thinking that, you are your past or your present.
It easy to be confused while searching for who we are, so many people take themselves to be their PAST, some take themselves to be their PRESENT, while some are still not able to locate who they are, they try many operations maybe it will give them a definition of who they are, but all of that can never define you, because you are who you are.
Being able to know your identity is your first great achievement in life because if you fail to locate your identity, you can never find your place and role in the drama of the world.
THE PAST
The past is a season that has expired. Although many activities took place in the past that involved you but none of those activities can give a definition of who you are. They are just like winds that blow around a big teak tree, the wind can shake the tree, it can make it bend to the left and right, it can even break a branch of it or pull the tree down totally, but all of that does not mean the tree is weak, it does not say anything about the identity of the tree rather than, the tree is "a big teak tree". Likewise, every activities of the past can be as violent as the terrible wind or peaceful as a gentle breeze, but they have nothing to do with your identity. Take for instance, when an evil doer changes to be a good person, people seem to forget about his former acts and move on with the trend of his goods, also when someone who is good changes to a bad person people take their eyes off the goods and focus on his new bads. The point is, either he's good or bad, the identity of man does not change, WHAT he is can change, but WHO he is can never change. Therefore, don't compare your Past to your Personality, you might have been battered, beaten and broken but all of that is not You, they only happened to You.
THE PRESENT
The failure of many is hinged on this notion of describing themselves with their present or current situations. The season that is most capable to deceive man and rub him off of him is THE PRESENT. Today might be rosy or rough, it might be tough or pleasant, it might be sweet or bitter, remember it is just a season, it will pass by, you will remain to be you but if you allow you the present situation to sink into you, you might end up in another lane which is not your place of identity. There was a young man sold to be slave in a strange land. In that strange land, the favour of God was with him that he became the head of the slave in his master's house. Someday! He was given an invitation to fornication with his master's wife, he refused, not because he was afraid of his master but he knew that his current situation was not him, he could identify himself differently from others. So he said, "If I do this, it will not match with my identity for, I am a child of God". The same way, so many people have accepted their present situation to be who they are and have fallen into  wrong acts that place them on the wrong lanes.
Now you know that your past and and your present is not who you are. Who Are You then if you are not your past and your present? You Are You! The Unique One God has Created and named before conception. Don't confuse yourself by thinking all you are passing through can alter your Identity , No, it can not. There is a YOU in you, the YOU you always behold in the mirror of your heart, is the you.

THE MIRROR: IDENTITY AND SELFHOOD

Identity. It’s the essence of who you are—your personality, the core of your being. Selfhood, on the other hand, is the expression of that identity, the way you present yourself to the world. Think back to a time when you had to show your identity card. Do you remember the reaction of the person you handed it to? Likely, they nodded in approval, having seen all the necessary information about you on that card. Your identity, in that moment, was defined by the details captured on that small piece of plastic. But identity is more than just what's written on a card. It’s how you define yourself and how others perceive you. It’s the name you give yourself, the image you project, and the way people recognize you. Selfhood is often conveyed through three key aspects: - Dressing (Your Appearance) - Actions (What You Do and How You Do It) - Speech (The Words You Speak and How You Utter Them)  Dressing (Your Appearance) There’s a common saying: "Appearance shows the manner." Where...

The Greatest Goal

When the ball enters the net, they say it's a goal! And the loosing team feel defeated forgetting that they've got the greatest goal.  Same to a man who has all his goals lain down and strategically pulling his efforts towards the goal but to realize at the end that, his goals can't be achieved, for known or unknown reasons. He looses strength. At times, he can feel like it's over. But the truth remains that it's not over until it is over. He's got the greatest goal.       Really, a goal is the achievement toward which effort is directed. And billions are the "I want to", "by God's grace I will", "in fact, I must" in the speeches of every man, especially at the beginning of every matter, but strength wanes and the story changes maybe in the middle of the road. Because all efforts put towards the achievement of the goals seem to be less affective. The truth is, no man has control over whatever happens and will happen....
