YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR TO ANYONE

Every human being is created complete and perfect. A person embodies perfection, regardless of their abilities, circumstances, level of understanding, intellectual capacity, or how others perceive them. Unfortunately, society often pushes us to believe that those who have more—whether financially, intellectually, or otherwise—are somehow better than us. This is far from the truth. Human beings possess diverse abilities and strengths, which is why we cannot all excel in the same areas or to the same degree. Where one person is strong, another may be weak. We all have our own unique strengths, but they come in different forms and measures. You are perfect as you are, by God’s design. What you have within you is enough to be your true self, though you may not have fully discovered all of it yet. Sometimes, in admiring others’ achievements, we begin to feel intimidated, believing that these people are somehow better than us. The more we admire them, the more intimidated we beco...

THE MIRROR: ADMIRATION VS INTIMIDATION

We all have people we like and others we don't particularly care for, whether it's because of their personalities or what they have. Yet, we might still admire them. But what happens after that admiration? Does it stop at admiration, or does it lead to self-loathing and pressure to become someone you're not? I've seen people dress in ways that make them miserable just because someone they admire dresses that way. The fact that you admire someone or something they do doesn’t mean you should feel intimidated by them. You are not inferior to anyone just because they possess qualities you don’t. Identity runs parallel. Consider this conversation between A and B: A: "What’s up with your friend?" B: "Which one?" A: "Cynthia, of course. Does she think she’s the only brilliant person in the world? She’s just flaunting her success everywhere." B: "If she’s oppressing you, then outdo her with even greater success." A: "Watc...

THE MIRROR: IDENTITY AND SELFHOOD

Identity. It’s the essence of who you are—your personality, the core of your being. Selfhood, on the other hand, is the expression of that identity, the way you present yourself to the world. Think back to a time when you had to show your identity card. Do you remember the reaction of the person you handed it to? Likely, they nodded in approval, having seen all the necessary information about you on that card. Your identity, in that moment, was defined by the details captured on that small piece of plastic. But identity is more than just what's written on a card. It’s how you define yourself and how others perceive you. It’s the name you give yourself, the image you project, and the way people recognize you. Selfhood is often conveyed through three key aspects: - Dressing (Your Appearance) - Actions (What You Do and How You Do It) - Speech (The Words You Speak and How You Utter Them)  Dressing (Your Appearance) There’s a common saying: "Appearance shows the manner." Where...

THE MIRROR: YOU ARE UNIQUE

As a teenager, my late father and his wife left me at home one Saturday, entrusting me with the care of my younger siblings. What did I do? I locked the door and took my younger brothers to a friend’s house for some fun. After we had our fill of play, I decided it was time to head back home. As we approached our compound, I noticed a man standing under the teak tree in our yard. My heart started racing. I knew I was in trouble. “There’s going to be a lot of beating today,” I whispered to Deji, my immediate younger brother. That simple statement sparked an argument. “That’s not my father, jor.” “See this boy, you can’t even recognize your father from afar,” I replied, my voice shrinking with fear. “My father is taller than that,” he added. His words made me pause. I took a deep breath and reconsidered who I was seeing. “This is my father, isn’t it? His head, his eyes, his shape…,” I thought. Then it hit me—the man wasn’t wearing my father’s clothes. We both exclaimed with shared r...

WHO AM I? UNDERSTANDING YOUR TRUE IDENTITY

They say I am not my past, nor my present. They say I am not my mistakes and failures. They say I am not my struggles and imbalances. They even say I am not what people call me or what I think about myself. If all this is true, then who am I? My dear, you don’t need to be confused about this. There is a definition of you, and it can only be found in one place. The world has its own way of defining a person—by what they eat, wear, say, by what happens to them, by their mistakes and failures, and by their life experiences. The world’s view of identity might seem reasonable, but it’s often misleading and confusing because the real you is not always visible. While the physical aspects of your life can offer some insights, they don’t reveal the full truth. The only one who truly knows your identity is God. Why? Because He created you. No matter what happens in life, no matter how you feel about yourself, who you are remains unchanged, and God knows and believes in who you are. Who you are i...

THE MIRROR: WHAT THEY SAY AND WHAT YOU THINK IS NOT WHO YOU ARE

There is a strong connection between what we hear and what we think. What others say about us has a significant influence on our thoughts. How? The human brain is like a tape recorder, capturing everything it perceives. You have the ability to control what you hear and what sinks into your brain. Once something is recorded, it plays back in your mind, especially when you’re alone, and you start to dwell on it. However, when searching for your true identity, many people mistakenly believe that what others say about them defines who they are. This is a dangerous misconception. The truth is, it’s easy for us to believe the voice of man over the voice of God. Yet, no human being, not even you, can fully define yourself. So, whatever people say or whatever you think about yourself is not the real you. People might label you with negative or positive terms—bastard, fool, pauper, failure, ugly, arrogant, or even wise, perfect, beautiful, and talented. These labels might reflect what they see,...

THE MIRROR: YOUR STRUGGLES AND IMBALANCES ARE NOT WHO YOU ARE

Life is full of struggles that can sometimes make us feel imbalanced. Because of this, many people believe that their identity is tied to their challenges. Struggles and challenges are like winds that blow against a tree, causing it to bend left and right, making it seem unstable. But, once the wind calms, the tree stands straight again. Similarly, life’s challenges can push you in different directions, but you must not let them alter your true identity. No matter how long it takes, no matter how intense the struggle, or how hard life becomes, you should not allow these challenges to define you. **You are who you are.** Take, for example, the story of Joseph in the Bible. He was hated by his brothers because they saw his potential and destiny as greater than theirs, and they became insecure. Out of jealousy, they sold him into slavery. In his master's house, he was falsely accused and thrown into prison. For five years, he was a slave, and for two years, he was a prisoner. Despite ...

THE MIRROR: THERE IS A DEFINITION OF YOU

Multitudes of people who walk around the streets are full of lifeless hopes for tomorrow. Many people live on earth as if they do not deserve to be alive. Many who open their mouths in giggles have hearts soaked with tears, just from the loss of identity. What a world we live in! The rich also cry for identity. If the rich also cry, what on earth is the hope of the poor? By the way, is anyone born to be poor? Oh, fate! Is anyone's fate poverty? The majority of the inhabitants of planet Earth are unable to live to their full worth, and then they call themselves what they see themselves living by. What a world we live in! Even in our lifeless hopes, we wait as the sun rises and goes down each day for a better tomorrow. We say each and every day that passes by, "Better days ahead." But here we are—where is the better day? We look just the same! The way we saw ourselves yesterday is the same as we see today. We live in a world that seems like the junction where th...

More-The Tapped and The Fetched

I saw Funke Akindele’s picture in 2008, I was pretty shocked. What was beautiful and celebrated by people in that year is now archaic.   When a man launches his new idea, however great, even if the whole world celebrates it instantaneously, it may not last for a year in the minds of men, they shout more immediately they consume the idea. It can only be best for that moment, few moments after, another best swallows the best. More!   Everyday, new ideas, songs, movies, teachings, podcasts, books are released, yet, men are never satisfied, once one is consumed, all you will hear is, “what is next?”. Men need more!   Those who shout more believe that the well never runs dry. Yes, the well is always overflowing, just that only few minds dig for the more. Human beings are created with more (the power of creativity). Everyone on earth has the grace to create, though in different capacities and dimensions.   Many people have neglected fetching from their well...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU #7: YOU ARE PERFECT

You are the wholest creature. Yes! You are perfect. You are pretty, handsome, awesome and made wholly.  Darling, the one who created you is an author of perfection. He is perfect and all the works of His hands are without fault.  Are you fair to look upon or unsightly? You are as perfect as you are. Are you thin or fat? The best it can be is the best it is. Do you wish you were fair and not dark or vice versa? Dear, you can’t be such.  Is your skin acne-prone? You can’t be more perfect. Do you resent your dental composition? You don’t have to. Why? Because that’s how best it can be. Let me share my story with you. The basis of my timidity and low self-esteem in my teens is my dental composition. There would never be a day someone, somewhere would not talk about it. My diastema was not as wide as it is today, my upper fore teeth were long that my lips could not cover them…the first thing anyone would probably notice about me would be the way I used to (unconsci...

EXCERPTS FROM F'ÀWỌ̀RAJÀ

I would be too quick to judge who he really was to Jane as at that time.   His outfit surpassed that of a mere colleague for an indoor party but then, he seemed to be known by Jola because she challenged them for coming later than they planned when the four walked in... “He may be one of the millionaires in her office, maybe he’s her boss…see, whatever!” I bothered my mind with this thought as I stylishly scrutinized his entire outfit.   He was dressed in a pink senator attire touched with silver accessories, his shoes were Italian products and his wrist watch matched with the accessories on his attire. I was certain, that watch was a designer watch.   As if he knew I was staring at him...he removed his shades and turned to the right, he said, "Hi".  "Hello", I replied bluntly. His face took my breath. "This guy is cute!" I said the usual thing I used to say to handsome men...words that never got to their ears. I didn’t fancy beards on men, but...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU #6: YOU HAVE A BABY

Hello o! You have a baby. Are you surprised? You shouldn’t. Inside every human being are a lot of children- when one grows another surface. Your “Weakness” is what I liken to “a baby”. You have a weakness, my dear. Whoever you are, however wise you think you are, which ever position you occupy in life, you are not human if you deny having a weakness. What makes you human is your weakness. And, what makes you a sensible human being is your humility to accept the fact that you have a weakness(es). Do not be numbered among people who think they are perfect- only God is perfect. Don’t get me wrong. Weakness is different from sin. Sin is a deliberate act of rebellion against God through nature. For instance, robbery, killing, fornication and the likes. While a weakness is a behavioural flaw in an individual, this can be nonchalance, playfulness, laziness, talkativeness, mismanagement, pride, workaholism and so on. You may not find your own in this list, but the truth is that y...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU #5: YOU ARE A PREGNANT BEING

I was thirteen when my mother was pregnant with her last child. Eventually, she was delivered of the baby the week I discovered she was pregnant. Isn't that tricky?😎 Her pregnancy would only make you feel she was adding weight.   The protrusion of the stomach is not synonymous to pregnancy. How many people with a protruding stomach are not pregnant and how many of them truly pregnant are unnoticed, until their delivery is near.     Darling, I'm glad to announce to you that, you are pregnant! You may want to personalize that, say, "I am pregnant".   You don't need to check your tummy, why? Because, you are not carrying a biological pregnancy, hence, you carry the pregnancy of great potential.   Say, "I carry the pregnancy of great potential". So, you were created, darling! You were created a pregnant being.   You are a pregnant being! This was the declaration at your creation; "...Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the ea...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU #4: YOU ARE THE CEO OF YOUR LIFE

Do not say, "I don't have a company". I know you too well, darling, you are a CEO. Yes, you are the Chief Executive Officer of your life!  You are in charge of your life. Since He(God) made you and breathed His breath into you, you became whole (perfect) to rule. (Genesis 2:7) All His ability as God the father is transferred to you (His image- offspring) to dominate the earth, including you- your choices, actions, decisions, weaknesses, strengths, possessions, and relationships. (Genesis 1:26). Since you are in charge, you are at the centre of decisions in your life. You can choose who/what to or not to stay in your life through self will. He created you with the 'will' which resides right in your mind. . The primary purpose of your creation is to dominate and manage, your life first, then, the earth.  What a huge responsibility to bear the CEO of your life? It is an identity encapsulated in a huge responsibility.  For you to be successful, you must p...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU #3: YOU ARE YOU

You among every human being on earth has a name. I can't answer your name neither you, mine. My name is what they call me. You have a lifestyle, a story, a profession, a family. You have records of success, struggles, failures and mistakes.  When you look into the mirror, you see you. So, who are you? If you say it's your name, it is a means of identification. If you say it's your physique(biological composition), it is a means of physical description. Your lifestyle(past, present and future), your family, your profession, your ability, your gifts, your struggles, your mistakes, your success, your failure only appeal to mundane senses. Hence, who you are can never be defined or determined by the physical senses. Do not confuse the questions; What is your name? What do you do? What are your abilities? What does your life experience look like? Etc. with Who are you? You are more than what the eyes of man can see. Your physical appearance does not matter in defining...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU- #2 YOU ARE A TRIPARTITE BEING

How interesting does it feel to know that you are an immortal being? Bum!🌟 That is who you are! You are a spirit! Knowing who you are helps you to approach life rightly as you strive daily to fulfill purpose. You are a spirit that lives in the body and has a soul. You connect with the spiritual realms through your spirit. You connect with the soulical realm through your mind. You connect with the physical realm through your body. You are a tripartite being. Your spirit, soul and body are so important and must align with the purpose of your existence if you must fulfill it. You need to take care of the three you, if you must live. (1Thessalonians 5:23). The only way to take care of your spirit is to yield it to God, your creator by accepting Him as your Lord and saviour. His Holy Spirit will dwell in you and through prayer and fasting, reading and studying the scripture, your spirit will stay holy and aligned with God.  As a man, you have the choice to choose who you yi...

INTRODUCING YOU TO YOU: #1- YOU ARE A BE-ING

I'm glad to announce to you that YOU ARE A BE-ING!🤗💯💃 Coming face to face with who you are is the first step to forever between you and your purpose in life. It is so expedient that you know who you are. To introduce means to cause someone to be acquainted with another person. It can also mean to make a person come to the full knowledge of who someone is. The first thing I want You to know (acquaint with) about YOU is that YOU are a be-ing - a work in progress. Imagine you were born as huge as you are right now. It is even unimaginable. You were born as a baby and here you are, fully grown. Isn't that amazing? God created you with the potential to evolve -without any limitation. The suffix "-ing" in English Language denotes an action in progress. It is also used to form uncountable(unlimited) nouns.  The word, "human being" connotes "unlimited human" - a human without limitations. No matter how grown, prosperous, learned, wise, knowl...

CHAINS PART 4- COMPLACENCY

Complacency which could be a result of the praise of men is the real chain tying so many people to a spot. The voice of men is one of the channels through which God CONFIRMS one's purpose but not the main channel. How then, many people are misled by the voice of men having failed to discover their purpose existence, personally. The society has misled so many people with words such as these; "You are very good at singing; don't you think it is time to produce your own album?" "You have the gift of prophecy, don't you think God is calling you into ministry?" "You have the gift of leadership, don't you think God wants you to found your own church?" "Your love for children is so amazing, have you considered having a school?" "Oh! My brother, you are very funny, have you seen yourself being a comedian?". These words are true, most of the time. Just that one must be sure of the purpose of every of his poten...

CHAINS PART 3- THE PAST

The past is a chain! I mean a very strong fetters that can tie a man to a spot for the rest of his life. There are three major seasons of life, the past, the present and the future. The past holds the highest power to either push a man forward or limit him. Whichever of these dispensed on a man is dependent on his decision. Meaning, you can either allow your past (experiences) to progress or limit you. Experiences in the past are always in two folds, good and bad experiences. Beautiful and successful experiences of the past wreck more havoc on people's progress than even the negative experiences. Why? Because, it is easier to let go of the failures and negative experiences of the past than the successful and positive ones. The positive experiences always make one feel good. It makes one feel, oh! I have achieved! Hmm... The truth is, there is always much more to achieve than all you have achieved in the past. While people pray this popular prayer point- ...
